Missis Sippi (self-made river running from a faucet to the Mississippi River)

About the Video: The Soap Factory is within walking distance of the Mississippi River. Seiple built a river, Missis Sippi, which joined the two. It originated at a faucet in the gallery’s basement and ran 500 meters over the urban landscape to its namesake. Having never been to the site previously, much of the project was given to surveying the geographic and political landscape. Without city permission, he discreetly constructed the river in two weeks. It followed the local geography and traced the urban territory... running along property lines, sidewalks, roads, and other in between spaces. It supplied a steady flow of fresh drinking water to the Mississippi, and then ran for another 3,500 miles, bordering 10 states before reaching the Gulf of Mexico to become part of the world’s longest southern flowing river.
